After four Tamil releases on Independence day, two days later, four more small Tamil releases are there. It means a total of eight releases in 3 days and if you add last Friday’s (Aug 10) Tamil releases it would be a whopping 13 releases in 8 days!
It is the big Ramzan weekend, three continous days of holidays, with Monday (Ramzan) being declared a public holiday by the government. The Tamil releases are virtually unknown movies like Acharngyal, Poovampatty, Etho Seithai Ennai and Pandi Oliperukku Nilayam.
Meanwhile, it is advantage Salman Khan’s Ek Tha Tiger which released on Independence day to the biggest opening in India. The film roared loudly in the box-office collecting Rs 32.92 Crore from 3300 screens in India.
In Tamil Nadu Ek Tha Tiger has collected approximately Rs 31 lakhs on day one from 40 screens, which is highest ever opening day collection for a Hindi film in TN.
